UPDATE: Wilson on alert for severe weather

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Lebanon and Wilson County on Monday until 10 a.m. The warning also includes Trousdale County.

NWS forecasters said a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph from Westmoreland to Lebanon were moving east at 50 mph.

The NWS previously issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Wilson County on Monday morning with several warnings issued in areas to the west.

According to Capt. Steve Spencer, forecaster with Wilson Emergency Management Agency, a cold front will move into Wilson County from the west Monday generating severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings.

Spencer advised to monitor weather conditions for possible warnings at any time.

A tornado warning was issued for Davidson County just after 8 a.m. but was downgraded soon after.
