Bulldogs announce 2012-13 men's basketball schedule

Cumberland men’s basketball coach Lonnie Thompson announced the 2012-13 schedule this week, which includes 14 home games and eight contests against teams that played in the NAIA Championships last season.

Thompson begins his 11th season at the helm of the program and returns seven letterwinners and three starters from last year’s 22-9 club, including seniors Charles Stewart and Jerret Towns.

Cumberland opens the season Nov. 2-3 in the Jimmy Faulkner Classic at Faulkner, taking on the homestanding Eagles as well as Auburn-Montgomery. CU takes on Oakwood in the home opener on Nov. 8 and also plays at home on Nov. 26 against former TranSouth Conference foe Freed-Hardeman along with Faulkner on Dec. 17.

The Bulldogs face Bluefield in the Mid-South Conference home opener on Nov. 29 and will also host St. Catharine College, Georgetown College, Pikeville, Virginia-Wise, Campbellsville, Lindsey Wilson, Shawnee State, Rio Grande and the University of the Cumberlands, all in January and February. CU will play Bethel University in a home-and-home after the New Year as well.
