Campbell named Mid-South Player of the Week

Cumberland’s Josette Campbell was voted Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Bulldogs in a victory at 18th-ranked University of the Cumberlands last Tuesday.

The senior from London, England, netted 20 points in the victory, keeping CU undefeated at 7-0 and perfect in Mid-South action at 3-0. The 6-foot-1 guard netted 10 points in the first half, two long-range jumpers (with her foot on the line both times) and three floaters in the lane.

She added a pair of 3-pointers and 10 more points in the second period and made 9-of-10 shots in the contest. Campbell is averaging 8.1 points per game and ranks fourth in the Mid-South with 2.3 steals per contest.

Cumberland started the contest with a 25-4 run and never looked back in the 71-45 victory. The Bulldogs also defeated No. 2-ranked Shawnee State on the road on Nov. 17.
