Cedars of Lebanon celebrates 75 years
Cedars of Lebanon will revisit 1937 today.
The state park, which originated as a joint project between the U.S. Forestry Service and the Works Progress Administration (WPA), will host WPA Day beginning at 1 p.m. today in honor of the park’s 75th anniversary.
Festivities will open with a formal dedication during which officials will open a time capsule from 1937, and local dignitaries will sign a pair of overalls.
The day’s activities will include a corn bread baking contest and a crosscut saw competition.
Musicians will perform traditional music throughout the day, and a rolling exhibit about the Tennessee State Parks will be on display.
Free pinto beans and cornbread will be served.
