School board's meeting appears routine
The Wilson County School Board plans to meet at an earlier time Monday.
The meeting will be moved from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m. Director Mike Davis said the early start time is in place so board members can get to sub-state basketball tournament games on time.
"Knock on wood, it seems to be a pretty routine meeting," Davis said, adding it is possible other issues might come up during the communications from the board or board chairman Don Weathers. "As of now, there is nothing major on the agenda at all."
He said Weathers might have an update on how the search for a new director of schools is going.
As for the agenda, the board will hear second readings on board policies regarding bus conduct, the use of personal communication devices in school, suspension/expulsion/placement, student wellness in regards to physical activity and nutrition, Special Education students and the board policy on homeless students.
The board will also consider instructional policies surrounding dual enrollment in college level courses; audio visual materials; reporting student progress; class ranking; promotion and retention; and graduation requirements.
The board will be asked to approve the Textbook Adoption Committee's recommendation for K-5 Houghton Mifflin Reading Series.
"It looks like it will be a fast meeting," Davis said. "But you never know."
