Commanders go Long to rout RBS
From staff reports
RED BOILING SPRINGS — It was a long first half for Red Boiling Springs on Friday night - too much A.J. Long, that is.
Friendship Christian's junior quarterback threw four touchdown passes and ran for another in the first half of a 41-0 shutout.
Long opened the scoring with a 52-yard run three minutes in.
He then threw touchdown passes of 47 and 38 yards to Cale Mitchell and a pair of 24-yard scoring strikes to Hunter Watts as the Commanders claimed a 34-0 halftime lead.
Austin Taylor's 12-yard run early in the third quarter closed the scoring as the Commanders climbed to 8-1 for the season and 6-1 in Region 4-A.
Long hit 6 of 9 passes for 107 yards with four of the completions going for touchdowns.
Red Boiling Springs did not attempt a pass. The Bulldogs ran for 165 yards on 44 plays in dropping to 3-6, 1-6.
Friendship will host Monterey at 7 p.m. next Friday for Senior Night while Red Boiling travels to Trousdale County as the regular season concludes.
