Covington to play 'music with a purpose'
Country music star and American Idol finalist Bucky Covington will perform at Watertown’s Stardust Drive-In Theatre to benefit two Wilson County organizations.
The concert, which is being offered by the Middle Tennessee organization Music With a Purpose, will benefit the Mt. Juliet Help Center and the Bridge Fellowship.
“Music With a Purpose was founded to help give people second chances – we all need a second chance at some point – in life and [the organization] believes if people are in a position to help others, they should,” said Jeremy Hayes, president of Music With a Purpose, in a recent email.
The Mt. Juliet Help Center provides short-term emergency assistance to people in need.
The Bridge Fellowship provides fun, comfortable atmospheres to help draw people closer to God.
“The team at Music With a Purpose hopes that this concert will go a long way in helping provide revenue for people working to make our community a better place to live,” said Hayes.
The concert will be Nov. 17 with gates opening at 10 a.m. and Covington taking the stage at noon.
Covington was country music’s best-selling debut artist in 2007 with his song “A Different World.”
Tickets are available at musicwithapurpose.com or at locations around Mt. Juliet.
“The City is doing ticket sales on [Music With a Purpose’s] behalf, and the City will keep a commission that can go to some local charities,” said Ed Hagerty, mayor of Mt. Juliet.
The additional charities have not been selected yet.
Tickets are $15 and available at Charlie Daniels Park, the Mt. Juliet Community Center and Mt. Juliet City Hall. Tickets may also be purchased at musicwithapurpose.com.
