Dawgs double-steal 13-inning win

From staff reports

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Daniel Harrison and Josciel Veras pulled off a double steal for the winning run and Kevin P. Greene tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings of relief in Cumberland’s 8-7 victory in 13 innings over Shawnee State on Friday in the first of a three-game series at Branch Rickey Park.

The Bulldogs (10-6-1, 3-1 Mid-South) held a 6-2 advantage before Shawnee State plated five runs in the seventh inning – two on walks and one on a wild pitch – but CU tied the contest with a run in the eighth on a groundout by Harrison.

Greene (2-1) used a pair of double plays to get out of trouble, including one to end the game. The Bears (14-10, 3-1) also left the bases loaded in the 10th inning after a pair of walks. The right-hander allowed six hits and five walks but struck out three in his longest outing of the season.
