Repeat offender charged in injury crash

A repeat DUI offender faces multiple charges after a wreck sent one driver to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police said Scott D. Hamlett, 47, of Lebanon, was driving at East High Street and North Cumberland Street on Sunday at about 8:30 p.m. when his vehicle collided with another. The other driver, Bonnie Oliver, also of Lebanon, was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center with minor injuries.

Hamlett is charged with driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license, violation of implied consent law and habitual offender, according to police.

“This was his fourth DUI,” said Lebanon police Capt. Michael Van Hook.

A fourth DUI is classified as a Class E felony with penalties that could include one year in jail with a minimum of 150 consecutive days served and a $3,000 to $15,000 mandatory fine, if convicted.

Hamlett remained Friday in Wilson County Jail with bond set at $13,500.
