'Project Thrill' may be coming to Mt. Juliet

The Joint Economic and Community Development Board of Wilson County met Thursday to discuss yet another new business considering a move to the county and passed a payment in lieu of taxes request to pass on to the Wilson County Commission.

The Nashville-based business, code named "Project Thrill," is a medical supply business. JECDB Director G.C. Hixson told the board the business sought to build a 240,000-square-feed facility at the Beckwith Road exchange near Interstate 40.

Hixson told the board the business sought to build a 240,000-square-foot facility at the Beckwith Road exchange near Interstate 40.

"They want a larger facility for growth. It will be 80 jobs that are moved here, not new jobs created," Hixson said. "I don't have an issue with that."

He said the company in question would build a $14 million building.

Chairman and county attorney Mike Jennings said officials at the county level might be a bit wary of approving another PILOT agreement when the business wouldn't be creating any new jobs in the county, but the board agreed the company in question would only get the tax break for three years, then it would be entered on the tax roles.

"I'll be taking this to the county commission budget committee next month," Hixson said after the meeting.
