Expo to offer something for every woman
The second annual Every Woman’s Expo will feature, well, something for every woman.
The Oct. 27 event, sponsored by First Freedom Bank and University Medical Center and held by The Lebanon Democrat, will feature seminars every half hour throughout the day from motivational speaker and local coupon expert Ann Haney.
Haney will discuss topics, including "The 1-2-3 's of Successful Couponing,” "Maximizing Savings While Minimizing Time," "Discovering Drug Store Rewards For Dynamic Savings” and "From Clipping Coupons To Debt-Free Living.”
Haney, a mother of six, said her passion for coupon clipping began three years ago as a way to offset effects of the recession. Like most of the American workforce, Haney's husband, who is in the construction industry, experienced a financial setback.
Instead of approaching the obstacle burdened with worry, Haney was proactive and looked for ways to do more with less.
"I heard that couponing could save a lot of money. It saved my family $800 a month," she said. "Basically, that would make a house payment. I spend $60 a week for eight people, which is phenomenal."
First Freedom Bank will sponsor Haney at the Every Woman’s Expo.
“We are proud to sponsor Ann; she brings a wealth of knowledge and can relate to her audience because she knows from experience the struggles of financial difficulties,” said Maliea Oakley, First Freedom Bank senior vice president and retail division manager. “Her goal is to empower people and teach them tools to achieve financial success.”
In addition to financial tips from Haney, a number of health topics will be discussed at the Every Woman’s Expo. According to University Medical Center director of community and volunteer services Jeannie Farley, a number of hospital experts will be on hand to present information and answer questions.
Radiologist Dr. Michael R. Couden will present a seminar on uterine fibroid embolization, a less invasive alternative to hysterectomy. Presenting “Things every woman needs to know about her body” will be Dr. Clainda Burton-Shannon with Women’s Wellness of Lebanon. Dr. Alisa Bowerstock with Women’s Health Clinic will present “The answers to the questions you were afraid to ask.”
UMC Surgical Services Director Kathy Romero will present a discussion on the surgical solution to weight loss from a patient’s perspective. Radiologist Dr. Lucy B. Spalluto will speak on women’s imaging.
The expo begins at 9:30 a.m. and will wrap up about 1:30 p.m. in Lebanon High School’s common area and cafeteria.
Other seminars and activities will be held simultaneously, including Zumba, dance, self-defense and karate demonstrations.
The event will be at Lebanon High School and benefit the Lebanon High School cheerleaders.
Cheer coach Amanda Hargis said the money raised would be used for mats and to fund trips to competitions.
