FCS opens State Volleyball tourney against Loretto

Serveoff is at noon Wednesday at MTSU

Friendship Christian will open the State Volleyball Tournament against Loretto at noon Wednesday at Middle Tennessee State's Murphy Center.

The defending state champion Lady Commanders' 53-4 record is the best in the eight-team field with the possible exception of Madison Academic Magnet, whose record was reported on the TSSAA Website. Loretto is 25-9.

The winner will face either Concord Christian [a new school in Knoxville which is 21-7] or Trinity Christian [28-6] at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday while the losers meet at 7:30 that night.

The Class A scene will shift to Blackman High School on Thursday with the winner's bracket final set for 1 p.m. Grace Christian [34-17], Boyd Buchanan [30-13], Madison and Eagleville [28-14]. Loser's-bracket games will be played starting at 10 a.m. and concluding with the loser's final at 4:30 p.m.

The championship match will be at 2 p.m. Friday at MTSU.
