FCS' Swindoll named MaxPreps All-American

From staff reports

Friendship Christian pitcher Brennan Swindoll has been named to MaxPreps All-America baseball teams.

The left-hander is named to the Website's Underclass and Small School All-America teams, the only player from Tennessee.

Swindoll, who missed his sophomore season with Tommy John surgery due to a football injury, made the Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State team for the second time earlier this week and is also on the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association All-State team.

As a junior last spring, he went 12-1 with an 0.69 earned-run average in 81 innings over 15 games, including a no-hitter. He struck out 101 and walked just nine.

Swindoll has received interest from schools in the Southeastern, Atlantic Coast and Sun Belt conferences and even some attention from pro scouts, his father said.

One of the quarterbacks who helped Friendship to a state football championship last fall, he will give up that sport during his senior season to focus on baseball, Commander coach John McNeal said.
