Ladder in road causes three-car pileup

A ladder in the road caused a three-car pileup on Interstate 40 near Mt. Juliet on Monday morning.

Mt. Juliet police spokesperson Tyler Chandler said a motorist traveling west near mile marker 224 swerved to avoid a ladder that blocked his lane at around 8:30 a.m.

"He bounced into a vehicle traveling in the other lane," said Chandler. "Then that car hit a tractor trailer."

One person was treated for minor injuries at the scene and another was taken to Summit Medical Center with "light" injuries, according to Chandler.

The accident was cleared by 10 a.m.
