Lady Wildcats post up for season-opening win

GLADEVILLE — Wilson Central's girls opened their season Tuesday night with a 66-48 home win over Franklin County.
Establishing the post game to set up the outside, the Lady Wildcats led 15-8 following the first quarter, 38-20 at halftime and 48-31 through three.
Center Dominique St. Louis led the Lady Wildcats with 14 points while fellow post Rachel Bean threw in 13. Kendall Spray scored nine on three 3-pointers while Hailey Averitt and Hannah Brewer each added eight on a couple of threes apiece. Sydney Comer supplied six points, Autumn Hopkins four, Kayla Jackson a three and Sarah Duncan a free throw.
"We wanted to get to the rim as much as possible," Lady Wildcats coach Bud Brandon said. "We developed an inside game, and then our outside game went to work. We had six threes in the first half. They were spread out."
Danielle Jordan totaled 21 points and Chelsea Holman 10, including a pair of threes, for Franklin County.
Central will travel to the Turkey Jamm Classic in Murfreesboro this weekend. The Lady Wildcats will open with Shade Valley [Ala.] at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Blackman and move over to Riverdale on Sunday for an 11 a.m. game against Provine [Mo.]
Wilson Central's boys didn't play Tuesday. The Wildcats will open their campaign today in the Venture Express Classic at Siegel. They will face Northeast at 1:30 p.m. Friday and East Ridge at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Today's games were moved up two hours due to the Stars' football semifinal game that night against Maryville.
