Langille earns second Player of the Week honor

Cumberland’s Kelsey Langille was named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week on Monday after scoring seven goals in a pair of conference victories last week, including a season-high five goals versus the University of the Cumberlands.

The freshman netted both goals in a 2-0 victory at Campbellsville University on Wednesday, scoring in the 32nd and 35th minutes for the Bulldogs. On Saturday against the Patriots the Ardrossan, Alberta, native scored five goals, including in the third, 35th, 45th, 64th and 65th minutes. The five goals mark the fourth time this season in eight matches that Langille has scored at least a hat trick in a match.

The weekly conference award is Langille’s second of the season. She leads the MSC and is second in the NAIA in points (42) and goals (20). She also leads the conference and the NAIA in goals per game (2.5).

Cumberland will play at third-ranked Lindsey Wilson on Tuesday at 5 p.m. and takes on Bluefield on the road Saturday at noon before returning home Oct. 3 to face Union College at 2 p.m.
