Langille nets both goals in 2-0 Lady Dawg win

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Freshman Kelsey Langille scored a pair of goals in a three-minute stretch of the first half and Lindsay Kitson made six saves in net for her third shutout of the season in a 2-0 Cumberland victory over Campbellsville in women’s soccer action Wednesday evening.

The Lady Bulldogs (6-1-0, 2-0-0 Mid-South) won their third straight match since falling to then 11th-ranked Martin Methodist, 2-1, on Sept. 6. Cumberland dominated the second half in the match but was unable to add to the lead.

Langille put the Lady Bulldogs ahead in the 32nd minute on assists from Kaitlin Phillips and Mackenzie Keele and then added an unassisted score, her 15th of the season, in the 35th minute for the final tally of the match.

Campbellsville (2-4-1, 0-1-0) led in the shots category in the first half, 10-9, and had three corners to none for the Lady Bulldogs, but CU took control of possession after the break and outshot the Tigers, 15-5, and had a 3-1 advantage in corners in the second period.

Kitson made four saves in the first half and two saves in the second for her second straight clean sheet in net.

Cumberland will host the University of the Cumberlands this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.

CU men fall 4-0 at Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Roraigh Yearwood scored twice in the first half and Campbellsville added two more goals after intermission in a 4-0 victory over Cumberland in men’s soccer action Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs (1-4-0, 0-2-0 Mid-South) were outshot 27-8 in the match, including 16-4 in the second half, and CU keeper Sully Shattuck recorded eight saves in net. Campbellsville also held a 7-3 advantage in corners.

Yearwood put the Tigers (5-3-0, 1-1-0) ahead with a goal in the 10th minute on an assist from Gustav Carlsson and added an unassisted score in the 21st minute for a 2-0 edge at halftime for Campbellsville.

Carlsson assisted on John Kennedy’s goal in the 49th minute for the home team and Pontus Yngve scored the final goal for the Tigers on an assist from Chris Moyo in the 77th minute.

Cumberland hosts the University of the Cumberlands this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.
