Music video featuring Watertown premieres

Watertown will again grace the small screen beginning Wednesday.

The music video for Little Big Town’s new single “Tornado” – shot largely in Watertown – premieres Wednesday on CMT.

Scenes featured include the town bridge and town square.

“There have been several videos shot here over the years,” said Watertown Mayor Mike Jennings.

Artists ranging from Garth Brooks to Justin Beiber have shot videos in Watertown over the years.

Jennings attributes the reason for Watertown’s popularity for music videos to a couple of things.

“I think it’s the fact that we still have that small-town, rural – almost rustic – setting, and the fact that it’s reasonably convenient to Nashville,” said Jennings. “I think we have what they’re looking for when they look for that step back in time.”

Watertown’s popularity for music videos not only adds retail traffic and increased sales tax revenues, but also general publicity for the town.

“I think it ties in with tourism,” said Jennings.

“Tornado” premieres Wednesday at 5 a.m. on CMT and repeats every hour throughout the music hours.

Television and film actor Johnathon Schaech co-starred in the video.
