Mobile Mammography Coach coming to Lebanon Saturday

The battle against breast cancer is still raging. To make sure women in Wilson County are armed for the struggle a mobile mammography service is coming to town.
Sponsored by Saint Thomas Health and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure’s “Our Mission in Motion,” the Mobile Mammography Coach will stop in Lebanon on Saturday.
Launched in June 2011, “Our Mission in Motion” mobile mammography coach was the first of its kind in middle Tennessee. It brings screening mammograms directly to women where they work, live and shop. The coach recently screened its 1,000th patient earlier this year.
The coach will be at Lowe’s on South Cumberland Street in Lebanon from 10 a.m. until 2 p. m., providing screening mammograms. Insurance is accepted and financial assistance is available to those who qualify.
The mobile service is offered to women age 40 and older who are not pregnant or breastfeeding, experiencing any breast problems, such as lumps or pain, or being followed by a physician for breast problems. In addition, women should not have had a mammogram in the past 12 months or have a personal history of breast cancer. Those planning to have a mammogram should not use deodorants, powders or lotions on their chest and wear a two-piece outfit that can be easily removed above the waist.
The service is first come, first serve.
“Our Mission in Motion” is a mobile mammography outreach program that targets employed, underinsured and uninsured women throughout a 16-county area.
