Mt. Juliet shooting update

MT. JULIET - A Mt. Juliet man shot by police after threatening to kill himself and pointing a gun at officers was arrested and booked into Wilson County Jail Friday.

Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested Michael W. McNabb, 56, of Mt. Juliet, after he was released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Friday.

According to Mt. Juliet police spokesman Tyler Chandler, officers responded on Dec. 15 to a call in the 700 block of Stonegate Drive about a man threatening to kill himself.

Officers arrived at the scene and set up a perimeter around the home.

Chandler said McNabb came out of the home and pointed a gun at officers and a bystander.

“When he pointed a gun at an officer, the officer fired two rounds hitting McNabb once in the chest,” stated TBI spokesperson Kristen Helm.

Paramedics took McNabb to Vanderbilt, where he remained until Friday.

McNabb was charged with one count of aggravated assault, and he was being held in Wilson County Jail Friday on $75,000 bond.
