Mt. Juliet's Vance wins fishing tournament
GALLATIN – Adam Vance of Mt. Juliet had a two-day total of nine bass that weighed 20 pounds, 12 ounces to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Music City Division Super Tournament on the Old Hickory Lake Sunday.
For his victory, Vance earned $3,821.
“I knew it was going to be a tough tournament after I had such a bad practice,” said Vance. “Being able to stay focused was probably the hardest thing about this tournament. I knew the fish were there but they just didn’t want to eat so getting them to bite was a real challenge. I stayed in the same areas and would fish the same log for hours. I had nine keeper bites all weekend, I was going almost two hours between bites, it was tough!
“I was targeting wood in about 4 to 8 feet of water in the back of Spencer and Cedar creek with green pumpkin jigs,” Vance continued. “It was very slow and very repetitive. But I had confidence in my area and I knew I just had to be patient.”
