Power cooperative pays taxes to Wilson County
Middle Tennessee Electric’s 2012 tax payment is expected to help fill the coffers in Wilson County, and surrounding counties, as well.
The electric cooperative pays ad valorem taxes annually. The tax is based on the assessed value of the company’s infrastructure — buildings, substations, transformers, poles and utility lines. The cooperative’s total ad valorem tax payout across its service area for 2012 was about $4.9 million.
