Nelda Smith "Aunt Nell" Bettes
Funeral services for Ms. Bettes will be 3 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at Hunter Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesday and 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Interment will be at Jennings Cemetery in Statesville.
Ms. Bettes, 74, of Alexandria, died Monday evening, March 11, 2013 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. Nelda was the daughter of the late Bill and Beatrice Hardin Smith of Statesville. She was a longtime employee of Performance Food Group and the Alexandria Cafe.
Nelda is survived by her sister, Barbara Vanatta of Alexandria; nieces, Tammy Vanatta and Teresa (Tom) Lynch both of Alexandria; nephew, Richie Vanatta and his son, Kameron of Statesville and longtime boyfriend, Charles Hallums of Shop Springs.
Ada "Rudy" Covell Cole
Graveside service for Mrs. Ada Covell Cole will be 3 p.m. EST, Saturday, March 16 at Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, Tenn. with Rev. Ron Matthews officiating. There will be no visitation prior to graveside service.
Mrs. Cole, 89, of Old Hickory, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage.
Born March 23, 1923, in Frederick, Md., she was the daughter of the late John and Grace McBride Covell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church and the Knit-wits.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Marion C. Cole, on Nov. 13, 2008.
Survived by two children, Susan (Richard) Cardwell of Gladeville and Wade (Delores) Harley of Brentwood; four grandchildren, Christopher Cardwell, Craig (Kendra) Cardwell, Wil Harley and Kate Harley; two great-grandchildren, Caroline and Zachary Cardwell; special family friend, Wayne (Julie) Gutch of Memphis.
Memorials may be made to the Broadway United Methodist Church, 309 E. Broadway Ave., Maryville, TN 37804.
Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home of Lebanon is in charge of arrangements.
Cody Joel Johnson
Graveside services for Mr. Johnson will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13 at Jones Hill Cemetery. A Celebration of Cody's life will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Round Lick Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Mayle will officiate.
Mr. Johnson, 30, of Watertown, died Saturday afternoon, March 10, 2013. He was born in West Palm Beach, Fla. and was preceded in death by his father, William Lyles Johnson Jr.
Cody is survived by his wife, Amy Tate Johnson; children, Briana Fletcher and Daxton Johnson; mother, Valerie Nadine Johnson; brother, Billy (Morgan Moss) Johnson of Mt. Juliet and their children, Elijah and Kyler; his twin brother, Casey (Kasie) Johnson and their children, Landon and Brayden; father and mother-in-law, Hershell and Diana Tate; sister-in-law, Beth (Matt) Shahan and their children, Andy and Matthew; brothers-in-law, Josh (Amy) Tate and their children, Josh, William, Emma and Maddison; Bryan Tate and his son, Christian; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Patricia "Pat" Jennings
Ms. Jennings, 67, of Mt. Juliet, died Monday.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m.
David Charles Kendall
Mr. Kendall, 63, of Watertown, died Monday.
A memorial service is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
Bond Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
