Velvie Lee Denson

Services for Mrs. Denson will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at Partlow Funeral Chapel with Bro. Barry Keene and Pastor Jamie Watson officiating. Interment in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17 and noon until service on Wednesday at the funeral home.  

Mrs. Denson, 87, died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at University Medical Center. She was a member of Highland Heights Church of Christ and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Troy B. and Maggie Ann Haney Hensley; husband, John Woody Denson; brother, James Hensley; infant sister, U.L. Hensley; and sisters, Annie B. Loftis and Dorothy Mayberry.

Survivors include: son, Roy Denson; brother, Wilburn (Dee) Hensley; sisters, A.V. Thomas, Lona Zee Ledesma, Edith (Charles) Mitchell, Betty Sue Mabery, Elma Jean (Roger D.) Loftis and Pauline Petty; grandchildren, Jeff (Lisa) Denson, Faith Denson and Angie (Jamie) Watson; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Jeff and Storm Denson, Collin Watson, Sean Denson, Earl Loftis and Charles Mitchell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charlie Churchwell and A.C. Denson.

Danny Warren Smith

Services for Mr. Smith will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at Avant Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Wade officiating. Interment in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith, 65, of Lebanon, died Sunday, July 15, 2012 at his home. He was born in DeKalb County to the late Frank and Irene Scott Smith. He served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969. He went to Law School in Nashville and later worked for TN Metal Works. He was the Human Resource Director for five years at Kotes. He had worked in maintenance at the Tennessean for the last 25 years. He served on the Wilson County Fair Board and the Foundation Committee of Fiddlers Grove.

He was preceded in death by: parents; daughter, Dana Smith Barrett; granddaughter, Kayla Roberts; and brother, John Donald 'Don' Smith.

Survivors include: wife, Donna Faye Thomas; children, Tracy (Mark) Christian of Watertown, Kim Roberts (Steve Hill) of Gladeville and Kevin (Tonya) Roberts of Liberty; brother, Robert 'Pete' Smith of Lebanon; sister, Janet Parrish of Madison; and grandchildren, Cruz (Heather), Cody and Hannah Christian and Zach, Noah and Emily Roberts.
