Delvin Reese Parks
Funeral services for Mr. Parks are scheduled to be conducted on Saturday July 20 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Suiter will officiate and interment will follow in the Wilson County Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends on Friday from 3-8 p.m. and again on Saturday after 10 a.m. at Ligon & Bobo.
Mr. Parks, 80 of Lebanon, passed away Thursday July 18, 2013. He was born on Oct. 25, 1932, son of the late Elmer Sr. and Bertha Collins Parks. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War and served aboard the USS Princeton as a helicopter mechanic. He was a member of the American Legion, active in Junior Achievement and a long time Kiwanis baseball coach. Mr. Parks was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by brother, Elmer Parks Jr.; sister, Irene Wells.
He is survived by wife of 56 years, Betty Holland Parks; four children, Steve Dewaine Parks (Pamela Lynch), Jerry Lynn Parks, Donald Ray (Tina) Parks and Madeanna Leanne Adams; seven grandchildren, Derrick Parks, Tiffany Ligon, Brandi Parks, Shelby Parks, Olivia Adams, Eli Adams and Reese Parks; six great-grandchildren, Tyler Parks, Nolan Parks, Riley Hines, Alexis Hines, Abigail Parks, and Bryson Ligon; and sisters, Dorothy Litchford, Mary Sisco and Thelma Burchett.
Pallbearers will be Donald, Jerry, Steve, and Derrick Parks; Jr. Rogers, Grady Litchford, Riley Hines, Tyler Parks and Michael Wells.
