Services for Mr. Tomlinson will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m., and Saturday after 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Tomlinson, 80, of Lebanon, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013, at University Medical Center.
Born Dec. 24, 1932, in Wilson County, he was the son of the late Isaac Means Tomlinson Sr. and Flora Mae Bundy Tomlinson. He was an Army veteran and a life long farmer. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Tomlinson, Mamie Leek and Minnie Lee Tomlinson; and brothers, Frank Tomlinson and Woodrow Tomlinson.
Survivors include: wife of 53 years, Peggy Birchett Tomlinson; children, Donna (Walter) Neal, Rick (Ketty) Tomlinson and Doyle Tomlinson; grandchildren, Brent (Taite) Neal and Lindsey Neal; great-grandchild, Harper Neal; and nephews, Donal (Barbara) Tomlinson and their children, Chris and Amanda, and David (Ann) Tomlinson and their daughter, Lisa.
Pallbearers will be Donald, David and Chris Tomlinson, Ray and David Birchett and Brent Neal.
Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Celebration of Life services for Mrs. Waters will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bluegrass Baptist Church, located at 235 Indian Lake Rd. in Hendersonville, with Dr. Alan Godwin officiating. Visitation will be at Hendersonville Funeral Home on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery on Thompson Lane in Nashville.
Mrs. Waters, 66, of Hendersonville passed away July 24 at Elm Croft of Hendersonville Memory Care Facility. She was born Aug.18, 1946 in Lebanon to Ramon Tarver Davis and Gwendolyn Ligon Davis.
Mrs. Waters graduated from Lebanon High School and Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree, and later she received her master’s degree in education from Tennessee State University. She taught for more than 25 years at Dupont Elementary School and was also an active member of Bluegrass Baptist Church for more than 43 years. She had a great love of cats, dogs, birds, horses, deer and most all of God’s creation. She particularly enjoyed gardening and flowers, traveling, theatre and music.
Mrs. Waters was preceded in death by her parents and husband, C. C. Mason.
Survivors include: her loving husband of 29 years, William “Bill” Waters; children, Melissa (Murray) Frazier, Old Hickory; Chet (Amy) Mason, Gallatin; Susan (Mitch) Painter, Hermitage; Missy (Steve) Brandon, Knoxville; and six grandchildren and another one on the way.
Pallbearers will include family and friends.
The family would like to express appreciation to Gen Hewitt and the staff at Elm Croft of Hendersonville for the loving care shown to her and the family for the past three years.
Expressions of love and sympathy may take the form of donations to the Bluegrass Baptist Church Children’s Next Program or to the Mid-South Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
