Pace leads four Bulldogs in double figures in 105-47 win
ATLANTA — Jessica Pace led four players in double figures with 16 points and Cumberland's women used a 16-0 run late in the first half to open a big lead and cruised to a 105-47 victory over Spelman on Tuesday night.
With the win the Bulldogs (8-0) remained undefeated in the early season, stepping out-of-conference for a single game before resuming league play Thursday night at home against Bluefield at 6 p.m. at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.
Jasmine Taylor’s jumper with 10:09 remaining in the first half cut CU’s lead to 18-15, but Josette Campbell answered with a 3-pointer for the Bulldogs, starting the 16-0 run that was ended with a pair of three-point plays by Pace. Casie Cowan added a pair of field goals during the spurt and hit a 3-pointer late in the half before feeding TaCouya Allen, who nailed a trifecta just before the buzzer, giving Cumberland a 46-24 advantage at the break.
The Bulldogs put together a 30-2 run to begin the second period that included nine points from Campbell and eight by Pace, pushing the club’s advantage to 76-26.
Campbell finished with 13 points and Lebanon's London Elie posted 11 points and six rebounds while Cowan added 12 points off the bench.
