Pikeville scores three in ninth to overtake CU 6-5

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Pikeville scored three times in the bottom of the ninth, squeezing in the winning run, as the Bears won the final game of the series, 6-5, over Cumberland on Saturday at LeMaster Field.
The Bulldogs (17-9-1, 7-2 Mid-South) jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the home team scored three times in the bottom of the third. CU added two runs in the sixth and took a 5-3 edge into the final half inning before Erik Manning’s two-run double tied the contest again and pinch-hitter Corey Gilligan successfully squeezed in the winning run for a Bears victory.
