Richard, Kramer finish second in State, Central fifth

FRANKLIN — Austin Richard and John Kramer finished second in the TSSAA State Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, the first Wilson Central grapplers to reach the finals in the sport.

Wrestling at the Williamson County Agricultural Exposition Arena, Richard lost the 138 final to Walker Valley's Caleb Langford 11-4. Kramer, a sophomore who pinned his four previous opponents to get to the final, lost the 220 championship to William Blount's T.J. Satterfield.

Kramer finished his season with a school-record 64-2 mark while Richard racked up a 65-5 worksheet.

Senior Nick Insalaco finished third at 120 pounds with a 4-2 victory over Cleveland's Austin Stevison. It was Insalaco's fourth trip to State and his first medal.

Junior Eddie Small was fourth at 132 pounds.

As a team, the Wildcats finished fifth with 113 points. Cleveland won with 232. Beech was fourth with 121 and Walker Valley fifth with 99. Central will return three of the four All-State wrestlers and eight other starters from this year's state duals runner-up team next season.
