Drug roundup nets 45 suspects
Sheriff's deputies rounded up county residents Friday indicted by a Wilson County grand jury for various drug charges. The operation began at 6 a.m. and by noon had netted 30 of 65 named suspects.
Sheriff Robert Bryan said the arrests were the result of a 10-month investigation by his department, with the assistance of the Lebanon Police Department and the 15th Judicial District Drug Task Force.
"We're up to 45 so far," Bryan said Monday afternoon, adding the hunt for the remainder of the 65 suspects is ongoing.
He said there is a reason these roundups take place so early in the morning in order to catch the suspects off guard which makes it easier and safer for officers.
Bryan said that a majority of the people picked up on Friday were familiar to his officers, but some were new faces to the sheriff's department.
He credited the Lebanon oficers with invaluable assistance in the operation.
"All the ones we've found so far have been processed or they are in jail waiting to make bond," Bryan said.
