Tigerettes take opener 7-1

WATERTOWN — Watertown scored its runs in the middle innings of a 7-1 season-opening win over visiting Red Boiling Springs on Thursday at Three Forks Park.

The Tigerettes scored four times in the third inning and three more in the fourth to hand Tiffany Tomlinson the win.

Tomlinson allowed a fifth-inning unearned run, five hits and a walk while striking out eight in five innings. Freshman Britteny Pryor pitched the final two frames, surrendering a hit with a strikeout and a hit batter.

Sophomore McKay Hill hit a two-run homer over the fence in the third inning. Jordan Brewington and Mallory Josey each had a pair of RBI singles. Hailey Lasater lashed a stand-up double and Allison Bouton and Mary Holden a single apiece.

Holden's hit came via the bunt.

"We had several good bunts," said Watertown coach Brandy Holcomb, whose Tigerettes will play host to Smith County at 5 p.m. today.
