Wildcats win first region title, return to State

Wilson Central won its first-ever Region 5 team dual championship Thursday with a 50-16 win over Blackman.

The Wildcats advanced to the final with a 63-18 thumping of Tullahoma.

This is the second straight season Central has advanced to the State Dual Tournament.

Winning against Blackman were Jacob Myers [103 pounds], Perry Baltz [182], Dillon Smith [195], Johnny Kramer [220], Lane Dickeson [106], Christian Cerrito [113], Jonathan Hayes [120], Nick Insalaco [126], Eddie Small [132] and Austin Richard [138].

Blackman only had four wins out of 14 weight classes.

The State Dual Meet will begin next Friday at the Williamson County Agricultural Exposition Arena in Franklin. Round-of-16 matches will be held at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m., followed by quarterfinals at 7:30. Consolations, semifinals and finals will be the following day.
