Woman accused of trying to hire hitman

A Mt. Juliet woman is accused of trying to hire a hitman to kill her ex-husband.

Bryam Megan Ewers, 42, was charged Monday with solicitation to commit first-degree murder after she tried to hire an undercover officer to kill her ex-husband, according to investigators with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives launched the investigation last Wednesday after receiving reports that a Mt. Juliet woman was trying to hire a hitman. As part of the investigation, an undercover officer posed as a hitman.

Investigators said Ewers contacted the officer, and arranged a meeting to discuss the details of the “hit.”

The officer met with Ewers in a Lebanon parking lot Monday, where, according to police, Ewers agreed to pay $5,000 to have her ex-husband killed. Investigators also said Ewers gave the officer photos of her ex-husband and of his home to help carry out the hit.

After the recorded conversation, detectives arrested Ewers, and she was booked into the Wilson County Jail.

Police later found additional evidence, including a large amount of cash and computer equipment, during a search of her home.

Ewers remained Tuesday in Wilson County Jail on $1 million bond. A preliminary court date is scheduled for Feb. 14.
