(Democrat File Photo) The Wilson County Fair mean big bucks to the local economy.
The Wilson County Fair, the largest in the state, begins next week and lasts Aug. 16-24. According to a Wilson County Convention & Visitors Bureau report done in 2009, visitors to the fair were responsible for an estimated $12 million in travel-related expenditures to the local economy, per findings by Charlotte, N.C., based Randall Travel Marketing. The study only counts money those visitors from outside of Wilson County brought in, which was 37 percent of fair-goers.
