Wine festival tickets selling fast online
May 05, 2004 12:00 am
Online ticket sales have been brisk for the Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce inaugural wine festival, "A Toast to Tennessee," scheduled for May 15 at the Nashville Superspeedway.
"We are selling lots of tickets online," said Anita Spicer, one of the coordinators of the event. "It's been crazy."
Hundreds of wines, scores of craftspeople and specialty food vendors will be on hand for the event. Live music will accompany the wine tasting.
In its inaugural year, the wine festival has already garnered statewide attention, attracting some 16 wineries from around Tennessee for the one-day fund-raiser.
Tickets for the festival are available in advance online, or at the gates with regular entry costing $15. A "designated driver" entry is set at $8 for those who would like to attend, but do not wish to sample the wines offered.
"Online ticket sales are going extremely well," said Mark Hinesley, president and chief executive officer of the Mt. Juliet/West Wilson Chamber of Commerce, host of A Toast to Tennessee. "There have been a little over 500 tickets sold online. Online tickets will be available through Friday, May 14. Online ticket sales has proven to be a great way to secure a wine glass and a spot at the wine festival."
Hinesley credited technology with helping to raise awareness of the event, noting the success of online ticket sales.
"The Chamber has embraced wholeheartedly the technology to bring the convenience of online shopping to our customers," Hinesley said.
With each online ticket purchase, Hinesley said a commemorative wine glass will be waiting at the front gate for the purchaser.
Spicer said that several more vendors and artisans have been added to the lineup, including a gourmet food vendor, Tastefully Simple, crafts from Copper Gardens, candlemaker, Wendy Hodges and a woodturner, John Smedley, who crafts wooden wine corks.
