Romel McMurry is calling on Murfreesboro and Lebanon citizens to take part in what he calls the “sock ministry challenge.”
“I’m known as a sock guy. I’ve got all sorts of funky, crazy socks,” said McMurry. “Just over this weekend, I thought, ‘what can I do for the citizens of Florida and Texas affected by the natural disasters?’ and I thought, why not socks?”
McMurry set up drop-off points at companies in both Murfreesboro and Lebanon, and he hopes to be able to collect 1,000 pairs of socks to be delivered to the victims of the recent and upcoming natural disasters.
“It may not seem like a big deal,” said McMurry. “For the people who have lost everything, it can mean a lot though.”
The Lebanon drop-off locations are The Lebanon Democrat office, Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home, The Wilson Post office, the Lebanon mayor’s office and the Wilson County mayor’s office.
