Blankenship, Barlow leads runners at St. Louis Classic

ST. LOUIS — Freshman Joel Barlow finished fifth and juniors Taylor Blankenship and Claudia Tepox both placed in the top 15, leading the Cumberland cross country teams on Saturday at the St. Louis Fall Classic.

Barlow continued his strong fall performances, covering the 8K course in 26:34.90 for fifth place among 97 competitors. Freshman Nate Mihnovich finished 17th with a time of 27:25.44 while junior Chris Swann was 27th in 27:45.40 and junior Carlos Tirado placed 36th in 28:14.01.

Sophomores Jerry Rojas and Jordan Hill finished 41st and 42nd, respectively, with times of 28:31.33 and 28:35.15 and junior Michael Rogers was 44th in 28:51.39. Freshman Nikita Fopiano placed 58th in 29:14.38, freshman Titus Williams was 66th in 29:38.97 and freshman Carlos Angeles-Solis finished 67th in 29:43.78.

Blankenship paced the women’s team with a 12th-place showing with a time of 20:06.58 over the 5K course while Tepox finished 14th in 20:23.97. Freshman Anna Grose was 20th in 20:42.97, sophomore Gavin DuVall finished 28th in 21:06.11 and freshman Hannah Spring placed 35th in 21:33.41.

Freshman Elaine Park was 36th in 21:33.97, sophomore Michaela Postell finished 41st in 21:56.38 and sophomore Amber Mays placed 43rd in 21:56.48.

Cumberland will compete in the Mid-South Conference Championships in two weeks in Bowling Green, Ky.
