WEMA fights brush fire on Holloway Road

Wilson County Emergency Management Agency firefighters battled a brush fire Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were sent to 1020 Holloway Road at about 4:40 p.m. for a possible structure fire. When they arrived, they found it was actually an uncontrolled brush fire, and two vehicles were also on fire.

The vehicles were older and sustained moderate damage.

Firefighters extinguished any remaining hot spots and kept the fire from spreading to a nearby utility trailer and mobile home.

No injuries were reported. According to WEMA director Joey Cooper, the origin and cause for the fire was determined to be burn pile that spread to nearby brush.
