An Overton County Jail inmate was accused of trying to solicit the killing of a witness in his pending criminal case.

A year ago, Calvin Booher, 39, of Overton County, was charged with aggravated arson in connection to several fires in the Livingston area.

In early September, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation special agents found information Booher attempted to arrange for a witness in his arson case to be killed while Booher was in jail.

On Monday, an Overton County grand jury returned an indictment that charged Booher with one solicitation to commit first-degree murder.

He was served with the additional charge Thursday night at the Overton County Jail, where he remained.
