Veterans treated to specials for Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day, several local businesses will offer specials and giveaways to veterans. 

According to offers.com, the following is a list of participating businesses and the goodies available either free or at a reduced cost to veterans. 

• Applebee’s – In honor of their services, veterans and active duty military get a free meal.

• Baskin-Robbins – For every ice cream scoop sold on Veterans Day, the brand will make an 11-cent donation to the USO.

• Chili’s – Veterans, retirees and active-duty personnel can choose a free entree from a select menu Friday.

• Chuck E Cheese – With a uniformed service identification or common access card, current and former military personnel can gobble down a free personal pizza.

• Cracker Barrel – Veterans can celebrate the holiday with a free Double Chocolate Fudge Coca Cola Cake.

• Great Clips – Veterans can get a free haircut card. All customers who purchase a salon service may take home a haircut card to give to a veteran. The card is valid from Nov. 12 through Dec. 31.

• Home Depot – This year, Home Depot is honoring Veterans Day with a free Build a Veteran’s Day Jet workshop for children 5-12 years old. The event runs from 9 a.m. until noon and includes a craft, certificate of achievement, workshop apron and commemorative pin while supplies last. Veterans can also get a 10-percent discount on purchases. 

• Logan’s Roadhouse – On Friday, active and retired military members can enjoy a free meal with a military ID.

• Lowe’s – On Friday, all veterans and their families can receive 10 percent off purchases.

• Marco’s Pizza- Marco’s Pizza is to launch free pizza parties at local VFWS, VA medical centers and American Legions across the country. Parties will include special gifts, medical bill assistants and plane tickets for family visits.

• Meineke – Vets and active-duty personnel can receive a free basic oil change with proof of service.

• O’Charley’s – On Friday, Veterans and active-duty members will be treated to a free meal.

• Olive Garden – Current and former service members can choose a free meal from a select menu. Offer is valid for dine in only; proof of service is required.

• Outback Steakhouse – This year, all current and former service members with ID can enjoy two steakhouse specials, which include free Bloomin’ Onion with a choice of beverage and 15 percent off the check for military personnel and their families from Nov. 12 through Dec. 31.

• Red Robin – With a military ID, vets and active-duty members can sup on a Red’s Tavern Double Burger and Bottomless Fries.

• Shoney’s – This year, vets and active-duty military can chow down on a free All-American Burger.

• White Castle – On Friday, customers with proof of service can grab a free breakfast combo or Castle combo meal.

• IHOP – In honor of the holiday, veterans and active-duty members get a stack of Red, White and Blue pancakes. Proof of service is required.

• Krystal – At participating locations, veterans can grab a free sausage biscuit.

• Longhorn Steakhouse – Guests with proof of service can score a free steakhouse appetizer or dessert, plus 10 percent off for fellow diners.

• Rack Room Shoes – In honor of Veterans Day, shoppers with valid military ID can take 10 percent off their purchase.

• Red Lobster – Veterans and active duty military can visit to get an free appetizer or dessert Thursday and Friday.

• Ruby Tuesday – Veterans and active-duty personnel can begin their meal with a free appetizer Friday.

• Sports Clips – At participating locations, veterans and current service members can score a free haircut with proof of service.

• Walgreens – On Veterans Day, customers with Walgreens Balance Rewards cards and valid military ID can take 20 percent off all eligible purchases.
