Mt. Juliet edges Lebanon 3-2

Mt. Juliet edged host Lebanon 3-2 Thursday night.

Britt Elmore broke a 1-1 tie for the Lady Bears with 13:34 go play and Summer Elmore added an insurance score at 7:45.

That insurance paid off when Ashley Grimes scored her second goal of the game at 4:19. She had tallied at 25:28 to bring the Lady Devils into the 1-1 tie.

Maya Bender’s score 22:09 before halftime lifted the Lady Bears to a 1-0 lead.

Both teams had shots on goal in the final minutes, but Molly McElhiney kept the Lady Bears out.

Mt. Juliet also won the junior-varsity match 2-1.

Isabella Simmons scored Lebanon’s goal with 12:46 to play. The Lady Bears led 1-0 at halftime and 2-0 before Simmons’ goal.

Gallione hat trick lifts Lady Saints past Goodpasture

MT. JULIET — Freshman goalie Amelia Lyons kept Goodpasture out of the net down the stretch, finishing with 16 saves in preserving Mt. Juliet Christian’s 3-2 win over Goodpasture on Thursday.

Senior Marcella Gallione scored a hat trick for all of the Lady Saints’ scoring, starting at the 16-minute mark off a Carly Keith assist. Gallione struck again in the 25th minute off a Destiny Moser assist.

Goodpasture scored just before halftime to cut the margin to 2-1.

Gallione completed her hat trick 18 minutes into the second half off Keith’s second assist of the night. The Lady Cougars cut the margin to 3-2 with 20 minutes left.
