WEMA members return home from Florida

Chief Shannon Cooper and Lt. Adrian McNabb made it back to Wilson County after a brief deployment in Florida where they helped with flood relief caused by Hurricane Irma.

According to the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency Facebook page, the Tennessee EMS strike teams demobilized Wednesday morning and went to Chattanooga. After a brief stop, the Wilson County team will return home. They travelled 2,222 miles.

The Tennessee teams helped in Jacksonville, Florida taking 911 calls. The Jacksonville area was badly affected by the storm.

Tennessee Emergency Management assistant director Cecil Whaley said the Tennessee EMS strike teams were praised by everyone from the governor to the most critical patient they treated for representing Tennessee with pride and heart
