Wilson Emergency Management Agency Chief Shannon Cooper and Lt. Adrian McNabb arrived home Wednesday night after a deployment in Florida where they were part of a Tennessee EMS strike team dedicated to relief from the effects of Hurricane Irma.

The two WEMA members left Friday, headed to Tallahassee, Florida at the request of the Florida Division of Emergency Management. While in Florida, the team worked in Jacksonville briefly taking 911 calls.

The team finished their assignment Wednesday and headed back to Wilson County, along with stuffed turtle, Stanley, which was McNabb’s companion during the trip.

Stanley was given to McNabb by his 3-year-old son to keep his father safe on the trip.

The crew took various pictures with the turtle throughout the assignment and shared them on social media.
