Habitat for Humanity to hold annual luncheon

    By LD Admin -

Wilson Habitat for Humanity will hold its annual Houses of Hope luncheon April 5 at the Capitol Theatre at 110 W. Main St. in Lebanon.

Registration opens at 11:30 a.m., and the program starts at noon. Demetria Kalodimos, news anchor for WSMV Channel 4, will be the guest speaker, according to Tory Tredway, director of Wilson Habitat for Humanity.

“The annual fundraiser luncheon is a great time to learn more about what Habitat for Humanity does in Wilson County,” Tredway said.

To date, Wilson Habitat has built 69 houses for local low-income families who pay an interest free mortgage after attending homeownership classes and working on the build site to earn the opportunity to own a home. Homeownership provides much-needed stability for many of the families, and the Habitat program is designed to empower its homeowners for future success.

“Our Houses of Hope luncheon is a unique opportunity for guests to see and hear firsthand about the impact that Habitat is making in our community as we serve local families,” Tredway said. “It’s a power-packed hour. We invite guests to join us for a delicious lunch and a memorable experience.”

The Houses of Hope program will feature current and future homeowners who will talk about the impact of owning a home. Three community awards – the spirit of volunteerism, spirit of Habitat and community partnership award – will be presented to local individuals and organizations that supported affordable homeownership in the community.
