• Southside boys blank Union Heights 52-0

    Southside’s boys posted the rarest of feats in basketball – a shutout – Thursday night, blanking visiting Union Heights 52-0.

    The Saints led 21-0 at halftime and 39-0 at halftime as they improved to 10-11.

    Tavin Hardin and Easton Forsyth each tossed in 12 points while Wyatt Bowling scored seven, Quin Long and Trevor Sanford five apiece, Keaton Reese four, Caden Webber three and Caden Baird and Carson Reed two each.

    Southside’s fifth-and-sixth-grade team also prevailed 19-14.

    Boston Webster scored eight points for Southside while Webber supplied six, Sanford and Mason Bryan two each and Gus Parker a free throw as the Saints improved to 9-10.

    Southside’s varsity will travel to Watertown on Monday with the girls tipping off at 6 p.m. The JV will play host to Walter J. Baird at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
