Fire damages Mt. Juliet school

A small fire in an in-wall air conditioning unit at Mt. Juliet Elementary School caused minor damage Monday morning. Mt. Juliet Fire Department Chief Jamie Luffman told Wilson County Schools spokesman Bart Barker the fire was discovered about 7:15 a.m., and the classroom’s sprinkler system and staff members with fire extinquishers were working to put out the fire when firefiighters arrived. The classroom suffered smoke and water damage, Barker said. Monday was a remote learning day, so there were no students in the classroom. Barker said no impact was expected when hybrid learning resumes today.
