Man arrested after New Year's Eve kidnapping, armed robbery

Christopher Mitchell

A Mt. Juliet man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery and kidnapping that took place on New Year's Eve at Lakeside Stor-N-Loc.

Christopher Mitchell, 40, faces multiple charges following the incident, and the Wilson County Sheriff's Office is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident as of press time.

According to WCSO Detective Walker Woods, Mitchell allegedly kidnapped and held a male victim at gunpoint prior to and during the robbery. There were reports of shots fired before law enforcement could respond, but Woods said the suspect fired to intimidate and that no one was struck by gunfire.

Mitchell then allegedly stole items from inside the storage unit and attacked a female victim, stealing her Honda Odyssey to escape the scene. There were also reports of a late '90s model Chevy Tahoe fleeing alongside the stolen vehicle, though the identity of the driver and whether there were any passengers is unconfirmed.

Woods said the stolen vehicle has since been recovered, and that Mitchell was arrested at a residence in Mt. Juliet based on statements from a witness and one of the victims.

Mitchell was charged with especially aggravated robbery and especially aggravated kidnapping. His bond was set at $100,000, and his court date is slated for Jan. 14.
