Graveside services with military honors for Mr. Marler will be Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Jones Hill Cemetery in Watertown with Dr. John Cheetam officiating.
Mr. Marler, age 103, of Murfreesboro, died Monday at the Tennessee Veterans Home.
Born May 10, 1915 in Watertown, he was the son of the late Frank and Margaret Era Ayers Marler and was preceded in death by his wife, Dolly Kelley Marler; and daughters, Margaret Patton and Rebecca Flogeras.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Christina Varner, Michael Flogeras, both of Canada, Jenna Flogeras, of Germany, and Emily Fannon, of Sterling, Virginia.
Elmer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a graduate of Watertown High School and retired from TRW Ross Gear. Elmer served in the U.S. Army and was the oldest living World War II veteran in Wilson County. He was a part of the D-Day Invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944 and received the Bronze Star.
