Madut, Kilian pace harriers at MSC Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Senior Garang Madut and freshman Riley Kilian each finished 13th and five Cumberland cross country runners placed in the Top 20 at the Mid-South Conference Championships on Saturday at Phil Moore Park

Madut completed the 8K course in 26:39.9 for his career-best finish in the conference championships. Fellow senior Tanner Harp placed 16th in 27:36.7, while sophomore Chris Swann and freshman Jake Royster were 24th and 25th, respectively, with times of 27:55.1 and 28:03.7.

Freshman Jerry Rojas placed 27th in 28:20.6, sophomore Carlos Tirado finished 29th in 28:33.3 and junior Kason Halfacre was 33rd in 28:53.8 to close out the seven scorers for the Phoenix.

Freshman Jordan Hill completed the course in 28:59.9 for 45th, while sophomore Michael Rogers was 49th in 29:10.7 and senior Spencer Rearick placed 57th in 30:00.5.

Kilian, sophomore Claudia Tepox and freshman Amber Mays finished 13th, 14th and 15th, respectively, for Cumberland with times of 19:54.2, 19:58.2 and 20:03.8. Sophomore Taylor Blankenship placed 33rd in 21:26.8, while senior Alesa Steiner was 34th in 21:32.8.

Sophomores Gavin DuVall and Michaela Postell were 40th and 47th with times of 21:47.2 and 22:57.3.

Cumberland finished fourth of six teams on the men’s side, while the women were fifth of eight teams.
