The Portland bowling teams have wrapped up their regular season schedule and are preparing for the district tournament this week.

In recent action, both squads split their respective matches with Merrol Hyde Magnet School on Dec. 1.

The girls won 24-3. In the opening game, Kaleigh Verran won 142-89, Leah High was successful 132-85, Addy Riggsbee won 138-77, Casatie Ventress edged her opponent 131-118, Ashley Gunter came out a 117-88 winner and Alis Smith notched a 141-93 victory.

Verran recorded her second win in the middle game by a 149-93 margin, High triumphed 112-102, Gunter eked out an 89-88 decision and Smith came out on top 166-99. In the final game, Verran picked up a 159-94 win.

Ventress knocked down 60 more pins than her opponent (130-70), Vicky Roe won 127-93, High rolled to a 137-82 win and Smith cruised 161-68.

Portland won the in each game and finished with a 2337-1717 margin in March Total Fall and Bonus Points.

The boys fell 18.5-8.5 to the Eagles. Jordan Ventress swept all three of his games. Ventress won the first 153-118, took the second 150-107 and recorded a 163-100 in the final game.

Zach Vaughn tied his opponent in the first two games, 128-128 and 120-120. Jonathan Thompson clinched a 160-119 win in the opening game. Besides Ventress, Brent Kibbey won 174-78 and Thompson tied his opponent 104-104 in the final game.

On Nov. 29th, both teams lost to Lebanon. The girls fell 22-5 and the boys dropped a 24-3 decision. Ventress edged her opponent in game one 112-110 and Verran won 160-112. Verran was the lone winner in the middle game 130-128 and Ventress (122-117) and Smith (103-76) picked up wins in the final game.

The boys had one win in game one as Ventress knocked down 70 more pins than his opponent (175-105) and Ventress (166-165), Vaughn (221-168) and Ben Berry (92-89) recorded victories in game two.

Portland split their matches with Hendersonville as the girls won 21-6 and the boys were defeated 22-5. For the girls, Addy Riggsbee, Veerran, High, and Smith defeated their opponents in game one. Ventress, Verran and Smith recorded wins in the second game.

Verran, Riggsbee, Ventress, Gunter and Smith all posted victories in game three.

Portland won the Total Pin Fall and Points in each game and held a 2355-2219 edge in Total pin Falls.

In boys’ competition, Ventress and Vaughn were successful in game one, Matthew Hicks and Ventress won in the middle game and Vaughn posted a victory in the final game.

In a match with Gallatin on Nov. 22, the girls won 24-3 and the boys lost 21-6.
